Tape makes it easy to link to all kinds of content in and outside of your organization 🔗

You can insert a link into a Tape dashboard as a block so you can easily place it wherever you want in your dashboard. There are two different blocks available for using links.

Why add links to your dashboard?

  • Centralized access: focuses on convenience by keeping all resources in one place for easy access.

  • Increased productivity: Emphasizes speed, helping you navigate quickly and stay focused, saving time.

  • Collaboration: targets teamwork, allowing easy sharing of links so everyone stays aligned.

Helpful use-cases

  • Add a direct link to your company website for easy access

  • Create a set of tiles for your team’s favorite apps, offering the same quick access for all your teammeber (favorites in the sidebar is user centric)

  • Link to a dynamic database view filtered by "myself" to display tasks relevant to the specific logged-in user.

Link block

Link to a web page or app, and customize the link title or icon.

Add a link or app:

  1. In a dashboard, enter the slash command /link. Alternatively, you can click the + that appears on hover to the left of any block, and select Link from the dropdown.

  2. Start entering the name of the app you want to link or paste a URL.

  3. Find and select it in the menu that appears.

  4. To move the block, click ⋮⋮ to the left of it and drag it to your desired location in the dashboard.

Customize the link

Hover on the link block and click ••• and select:

  • 'Edit link' to modify the link title

  • 'Icons' to choose an icon, add an emoji, or upload a custom file.

Link to app block

Link to an existing app and choose whether to display a + button for creating new records.

Add an app:

  1. In a dashboard, enter the slash command /link to app. Alternatively, you can click the + that appears on hover to the left of any block, and select link to ap from the dropdown.

  2. Start entering the name of the app you want to link.

  3. Find and select it in the menu that appears.

  4. To move the block, click ⋮⋮ to the left of it and drag it to your desired location in the dashboard.

Create new records

  • Hover on the link block and click •••

  • Toggle on 'Show new record' to showing + next to the app name

What is the difference between using a "Link block" and a "Link to app block" when linking an app?

  • Link to app block: automatically syncs the app name and icon. If the user doesn’t have permission to view the app, the name won’t be shown. You can also add a “+” next to the app name, allowing users to create new records

  • Link block for apps: lets you customize both the title and the icon for more flexibility. An arrow next to the icon shows that it’s a link block.
